Laguna–Acoma Hawks Winning Streak Ends

The Hawks hit a tough spot on their most recent victory roll as they went 0-3 last week. They lost both games of a doubleheader against the formable district rival the Rehoboth Lynx (15-1, 2-0) on Tuesday, April 12, by 10-0 in the first game and 11-1 in the second game.

Brian Silva had one hit in that game and he also pitched that game. In the second game, Brian Silva had three hits in that game and Neal Kie pitched for the Hawks.

On Saturday, April 16 the Hawks lost to 4-A Gallup High School (5-11,0-5) by a score of 20-2. Caleb Riley scored hits and scoring runs were Brian Silva and Caleb Riley. Silva and Quentin Lucero pitched in that game. Next up for the Hawks is an away double header against district Rival Navajo Pine (3-9, 0-0) on Saturday, April 23.

The Lady Hawks softball team split with Zuni High School last week as they defeated them 15-0 in the first game and narrowly lost the second game, 18-17. Aaliyah Hershey led the Lady Hawks with three runs in that first game and Erica Martin pitched in that game. In the second game, Erica Martin and Savannah Suazo pitched in that game. Nine Lady Hawks scored and Aaliyah Hershey, Bethany Mariano, Janessa Cheromiah scored three runs apiece in that game. Currently the lady Hawks are 8-6, 0-0 heading into their next game.

Next up for the Hawks will be a non-district away double header against the McCurdy Bobcats (2-8) on Tuesday, April 19th.
