SANTA FE, NM — After all the hard work for many years for New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC), Commissioner Becenti-Aguilar will be honored at a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony, performed by a Kahu (honored attendant) starting Sunday, June 5, 2022. She will receive a ti leaf, which are typically braided or knotted into lei along with Governor Ige, President Jadgmann and Kahu Kekoa who are all honorary key officials of Hawaii.

The goal of the conference enhances a level-setting overview of the pressing challenges facing Western states. Commissioner Becenti-Aguilar will be a speaker on two panels:

1. Equity and Energy Justice 2. Broadband Equity Access

2. Broadband Equity Access The first topic highlights reasons why equity matters in the energy transition at the Public Regulation Commission concentrating on social demographic disparities across the energy system. From energy insecurity to solar access as well as even per-household circuit capacity for distributed energy resources.

The second topic Commissioner Becenti-Aguilar will engage in Broadband Equity discussion, Access, and Deployment Program, and Enabling Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Programs. The key questions are Broadband should be available and accessible to all. The funding sources Commissioner Becenti-Aguilar is familiar with are The CARES Act, Consolidated Appropriations Act, American Rescue Plan Act, and the Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act. She will explore whether there are overarching principles for the wise use of broadband deployment funds, the importance of ensuring digital equity and broadband adoption, and promoting the public trust with transparency and accountability.

In Santa Fe, New Mexico, Commissioner Becenti-Aguilar sets the policies, sets the goals, sets the targets, creates positive effect, and engage with Tribal Elders regarding Energy policies and receives blessing with Tribal perspective. It is imperative that Energy Transition are based on our American Indian core values, which have withstood the test of time.

The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) regulates the utilities, telecommunications, and motor carrier industries to ensure fair and reasonable rates, and to assure reasonable and adequate services to the public as provided by law.

The PRC also promotes public safety through the offices of Pipeline Safety Bureau and Transportation Division.
